When Menstrual Periods Stop

A high prolactin level could be caused by certain medications or a small growth in the pituitary gland called a pituitary adenoma. Your doctor will review your medications to see if one of them may be a contributing factor. Your doctor will likely order an MRI or CT scan to get a picture of your pituitary gland.
